This book was certainly one that I will forever remember because these kids share a troubled past, but they keep going until their time comes. The book first starts with Introducing Ponyboy and how there are 2 types of social classes. He belongs to the Greasers class which is considered to be the worst class compared to the Socs, the class that has it all. Ponyboy and his crew, Johnny, Sodapop, Darry, Dally, and Two-Bit, are all part of the greasers and stick together because they're always up to trouble. Eventually in the book Ponyboy, Johnny, and Darry meet a girl named Cherry. Later she reveals that even Socs have a hard time with life. After that, the Greasers meet up with the Socs and are threatend to stay away from Cherry and her friend that tagged along. Further in the book when Johnny and Ponyboy go to the playground, they meet up with the same group of Socs, except they were drunk and drowned Ponyboy into the fountain until Johnny came and killed the Soc. In fear, the rest of the Socs crew left them alone. Johnny and Ponyboy went to Dally for money and a hideout, fearing the police would come after them causing them to run away and change their appearences. After they return home, a burning building traps a couple of little children. Ponyboy and Johnny came to the rescue and saved all of the kids, but at the price of Johnny's death. From his death rose 3 famous words inspiring people from all over, "Stay gold, Ponyboy."
